I may be stretching to put this into a page on blogging however it is good advice and some steps may figure into a blog post. I will have to admit that I agree with most of what Maureen Bertolo says in this article however in an email the opener should be pleasant.

To often the opening line in an internal email goes right to a power line, no hello and sometimes not even a goodbye. My personal reaction is not a pleasant one. It was like someone could not wait to hit you. So the message may deliver a dislike for the person sending it along with the message.
